Thank you everyone for your kind words, thoughts, pms etc. It really means a lot to know that everyone cares so much. Mungo is feeling a lot better and his balance is improving. He has today finished his antibiotics so now we are just on steroids until we go back to Dick Whites in a couple of weeks for the next couple of chemotherapy injections. If all goes well with this he will then be just under the care of our local vet.
Does anyone know if there are restrictions on taking dogs onto the Suffolk/Norfolk beaches at this time of year? Reason for asking is that Mungo loves swimming and I now have to keep him out of ponds etc, some of our rivers also tend to get the dreaded algae so probably best to keep out of there too.
Many many thanks for all your good wishes

We're sorry to hear that Mungo has been so poorly, but it's good news that he is feeling a bit better now. A splash in the sea sounds like a good idea. I can recommend the beaches around Holkham, they're so massive and it's ok with dogs.
As far as i know the only restricted beaches in Norfolk are near to the towns...especially the promenades (where they should be kept on leads.) Good luck. _________________ Jon and Molly (decoymans piper dixie) |

Just seen this Jenny, so sorry to hear that Mungo has been so ill and is now (hopefully) on the road to a recovery. Hope he bounces for you for a long time yet. _________________ Gretzky - Fallowfen Foxy Fellow

I'm very sorry for you; it must break your heart to see your dog so ill. Keep my fingers crossed for his recovery.
I must say I'm not familiar with MUA; is this also an autoimmune disease? _________________ Gerja

So glad to hear Mungo is feeling a little more like himself and I really hope the next round of treatment goes well. I don't know exactly where you are but there are some very good beaches in Essex that are very dog friendly (the ones we go to are pretty much deserted, Pan has a ball.) _________________

Hi everyone
Mungo is back at Dick White's today for his check up and next dose of chemotherapy, will hopefully collect him tomorrow afternoon when he has had all 4 injections. Giunio was pleased with his progress, he is now playing with toys again and he can manage a 2-mile walk without problems. However, Florence and Saskia are not playing with him at all, and he does have continence problems overnight due to the steroids. I try and get up at least one a night to let him out but I don't always time it right! His balance is now pretty good and he looks a lot brighter in himself so hopefully we are going in the right direction.
Thank you everyone who has phoned, emailed, posted messages etc, I really appreciate all the support. _________________ Jenny P |
